Standards for This Blog
Over the last several days, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about this blog. I’ve come to some conclusions, and I absolutely need YOUR input to keep this process going.
I want to make this blog YOUR place to come and to read. I want to make it as accessible to YOU as possible. I want to give you the options to tell me that this post is shite, or that it’s great or whatever.
Because of that desire, I’ve given a lot of thought to the plugins I have added to this site. I’ve put plugins to make the integration for the WWW easier, such as Comment Luv, I’ve added plugins to make it easier for you to give an “attaboy” without making you sign in and leave a comment, I’m talking about the Vote box down below, I’ve now put a plugin to make it so that you still have to register, but you can leave a comment that no one else will see but you and I.
I understand that anonymity for these kinds of sites is important. I want to make some suggestions as to what you can do to make your life easier.
- Make an ID that has nothing connected to you. My site accepts OpenID, go to Gmail and make a “throwaway” email address. One for yourself as a girl, or whatever. Then come back here and log into OpenID with that email address. The program will send you a “confirmation ID” and once you put the confirmation key into the proper box, you can sign in with that email address. It will have nothing to do with you. You can post as that person to your heart’s content and no one will know that it is you at work.
- Because of the OpenID, you can log in with things like your LiveJournal account. If you already have an anonymous ID like a Livejournal account, you can log in with that. Same features and so on.
- If you really want to tell me off, but don’t want the comment, email me I have a post up that gives my email address, it’s the very first one, back in 1900 or so. Copy the email address and tell me off in private. My email address is also at the bottom of every page. Down there near the big WP symbol there is a section that says “Joy Phillip”, and it’s an email link. Use it.
- PLEASE use the “vote” button. I write my stories here in my home. You read them in yours. I have no way of knowing if it moved you or whatever. I don’t know if you liked it or not. I can only go by what posts are popular and which aren’t. Using the yellow “Vote” button will tell me that you liked it, or didn’t, without ever exposing you at all. You don’t have to sign in, all you have to do is click.
- I’m fairly open, but you don’t have to be. Using these methods will tell me if I’m actually reaching an audience, ones who enjoy my work, without ever exposing you to danger. I understand the fear, I wrote about it just the other day. I understand not wanting to be seen. That’s cool too. But I still need feedback from you. I promise you that posts I make that will have some controversial element you may wish to comment on, and ALL my stories will have the “semi-private” option turned on, which means that only your ID and myself will be able to see that comment. Everyone else will see “This comment is private”. I have it turned on for this post.
I need feedback. Without feedback, I’m just sitting here doing some mental masturbation, not really giving anything to anyone. If you like a story, please SHARE that with others. I would love to see other people getting to know my work, and sending them here will be even better. Please.
And voting in the poll won’t expose you either. Just sayin’.
Love Always...
