Normally I only pay enough attention to Politics to make sure that I still get the government benefits I need, but with the election of President Obama and the landslide of the Democrats taking back the Congress as well as the Executive Branch, I started paying more attention.

Today, I give you some topics that directly affect me and most TS ladies/men. Some topics will seem like I shouldn’t care, but in the words of someone famous, “…and then they came for me”.

Oº°‘¨There are some things that I don’t care about, and more that I do. I care about National Healthcare a lot. I’m one of those who can’t pay for Insurance, and I need several medical procedures, and none of them have to do with my sexual identity. I need dental care, desperately, I need help with my diabetes and more. So I found my eyes opened with the 5 Myths About Healthcare Around the World and Health Care Fit for Animals. Go and read them. Now. And get active.

Oº°‘¨I got this in an email and I really think that we should all speak out against it. Banning abortion in the private health-insurance market has become the anti-choice movement’s number one goal in health-care reform. Tell Congress not to put women’s health in jeopardy. I would link the whole thing, but I deleted the email. So I will leave it up to you to go and take a look. Even though once I transition I won’t be able to have children, I don’t ever want to see anyone loose their rights to determine what happens to their own body.

Oº°‘¨The New York Times said: “Only by making public officials accountable under the law can Americans be confident that future presidents will not feel free to break it the way Mr. Bush did.” The email goes on to talk about how donations are needed to fund the movement to indict Bush and Chaney for their crimes while in office. I’ll give you the website, but not the begging donation links. I have supported and given money to them in the past. I do think that Bush needs to be held accountable.

Oº°‘¨DOMA. What the hell can I say about that abomination that is reasonable. I know! It protects the rights of a minority to be legal bigots. It doesn’t safeguard marriage at all, it will destroy many recognized marriages if it remains. Including mine. Yes, when I transition from Male to Female, an 18 year marriage will be destroyed in every legal way necessary. I will no longer be married to the most beautiful woman in the world, I will no longer have parental rights to the daughter I gave half of her genetic code to. I will no longer be able to stay in the hospital room of my wife when she is sick. I will lose it all. DOMA is just not right.

Oº°‘¨Finally, one video that I didn’t see in person when it was on, but I’ve watched it about ten times since then, and I think everyone should be forced to watch it at least once.

Love Always...NOT my actual signature

Mini-Biography:  Joy is a transvestite who has been using her stories as a form of therapy. At this point she has no desire to undergo the full transition, but that might change some day. Read more about her story at My Story on this site.
