 A WordPress Plugin Idea

One thing I would like to see is a comic plugin that will allow me to pick some comics by RSS feed and post them on a page on my blog.

Not all the comics I would want on there are with some comic service however.

Ideally I would like to have one page, kind of a personal “funny papers” to hold copies of the comic for the following (for example):

Girl Genius
FreeFall
Something*Positive
Clan of the Cats
Skin Horse
Venus Envy

and others. Links back to the comic of origin so that they get publicity, and have it update when the artist updates their feed. I would, of course, secure permission from the authors so that when it pulls their comic it’s not cacheing it on their server, but on mine, so that their bandwidth isn’t affected. That way when a comic updates I can go to that page, and have all my comics right there so I can read them. This will also let surfers get to that page and see what I read and possibly suggest new stuff, comment on what I see, read “over my shoulder” as it were, and so on. Maybe have it password protected so that you have to enter a password to see that page if you want to keep it private, or without the password the graphic isn’t displayed, but links to the comics that are on there are displayed, so that the surfer can see what you read, but not use the bandwidth of the site pulling the pictures.

That is what I would like to see. Granted it would be a pain in the backside to get permission from each comic author, but I don’t think that is an insurmountable obstacle right now. That would also leave the sites that generate revenue from the comic feeds the option of only serving to a specific plugin, instead of all of them.
